New CFO at Heidelberg

The Supervisory Board of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has appointed Marcus A. Wassenberg (52) as ordinary member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG with effect from September 1, 2019. Wassenberg succeeds Dirk Kaliebe, who, as previously announced, will leave the company at his own request at the end of September and will be available for an orderly transition.

Bosch Packaging contributes to EIT Food

Although environmental awareness is increasing among the general public, Greenpeace reports that around 12.7 million tons of plastic waste still end up in the oceans each year, with rising tendency. At the same time, however, regulatory changes, initiatives and altering consumer behavior are leading to increased efforts towards more sustainable packaging and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. Bosch Packaging Technology recognized the necessity for these developments early on and launched the first sealed paper packaging along with a corresponding machine concept as early as 2016.

Battery Ventures, a global technology-focused investment firm, announced that it has acquired two companies: Forest2Market, Inc. a firm supplying data, analytics, supply chain expertise and strategic consulting services to the global forest products industry; and Fisher International, Inc. a firm supporting the pulp and paper industry with business intelligence and strategy consulting services.

For its current rebuild of the PM 4, PKV is also relying on the expertise of the technology group from Heidenheim.

Koenig & Bauer sets up endowed chair

Koenig & Bauer has set up a five-year endowed chair at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences. After regular appointment proceedings, Dr. Helene Dörksen has been appointed to the chair with effect from 1st August 2019. The goal of the endowed chair is to promote development and research in the field of document authentication and classification.

Coldset Printing Partners chooses Toray plates

Toray Graphics in the Czech Republic, a manufacturer of waterless offset plate technology, today reported that Belgian printing company Coldset Printing Partners has converted most of its operations to waterless offset printing using Toray Imprima printing plates and Koenig & Bauer Cortina printing presses. The company, which serves its parent newspaper publisher as well as external customers that require heatset quality offset printing, was formed in 2010 as a joint venture to consolidate two printing plants.
