New perfect binder, new gluing process

First, the company – which was founded in 1917, closed by the Communists in 1947 and restarted as a traditional graphic company in 1990 – increased the efficiency of its softcover production. Second, the new perfect binder, which has a 20-station ZU 805 gathering machine, a 153.M three-knife trimmer and a KL 501 book stacker, also allows the company to prepare book blocks for hardcover production on a Muller Martini Diamant MC 60 bookline.

15th Cortina User Workshop in Belgium

This year’s meeting was already the 15th time that users of the Cortina waterless newspaper press had come together to gather information on technical developments, to discuss practical experiences and to elaborate joint strategies for the future. The event initiated by Koenig & Bauer is held at the location of a different user or supplier industry partner each year. The driving force behind the annual workshop is Peter Benz, project manager Koenig & Bauer Digital & Webfed, who once again took care of the central organisation and also assumed his now traditional role as moderator of the two-day event.

Valmet to deliver defibrator system to Tianjin Shengsong Wood in China

Valmet will supply a Defibrator™ system to Tianjin Shengsong Wood Co. Ltd in Tianjin, China. The start-up of the system is planned for the middle of 2020. The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the third quarter 2019. The value of the order will not be disclosed. “In order to further improve our product quality, we decided to replace the existing fibre production system and chose Valmet’s defibrator and good machinery. We think that this will lead to excellent performance and results,” says Zhang Lijun, General Manager and shareholder, Tianjin Shengsong Wood.

New possibilities for the packaging market

Successful commissioning of the first HP PageWide T1190 Press to be installed in Asia. Rengo Co., Ltd, a Japanese packaging supplier, celebrated the start of production with a grand ceremony in August. This was also the first time that the “widest digital printing press in the world” had been supplied in a six-colour version. “We are very satisfied with our press. The cooperation with HP and Koenig & Bauer was absolutely flawless. And since the commissioning, the press has been fulfilling all our prior expectations in terms of performance,” says Junjiro Watanabe, general manager for technical development at Rengo.

More than 70 headboxes have been supplied to Chinese paper mills

Shouguang Luli Paper Co. Ltd.in Chinese Shandong Province has successfully started up a dilution controlled TurboJetter headbox supplied by Bellmer Vaahto from Finland. The testliner machine PM1 produces 110 – 200 g/m2 paper for corrugated boxes on max speed. 800 m/min and trim width 4,96 m. The mill was founded in 2005. It is located in Shouguang City Zhenlu Houzhen Town.
