Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has responded as quickly as possible to the difficult conditions caused by the global coronavirus crisis, and provides its customers in the area of commercial, packaging and label printing with support at all levels. “Especially in these challenging times, our digital interfaces to print shops worldwide are proving their worth in helping our customers in their daily operations,” explains Rainer Hundsdörfer, Chief Executive Officer of Heidelberg. The company generates around 85 percent of its sales abroad, and supports its customers in the best possible way locally with its globally based and proven service and sales network in the graphics industry.

Resolve Business Management has announced the launch of Global PrintExpo - the “world’s first Virtual Exhibition and conference facility for the printing industry”.  In developing this creative and innovative concept, Show Directors Wayne Beckett and Chris Watson of RBM have utilised their long standing technical experience managing cloud based products as well as expertise in running large-scale printing industry exhibitions.  The show will open in June 2020.

Stora Enso appoints David Ekberg as Head of Packaging Solutions division

Stora Enso has appointed David Ekberg as EVP, Head of Packaging Solutions division and member of the Group Leadership Team as of 1 April 2020. David Ekberg has held the role of acting Head of Packaging Solutions since 6 December 2019. Previously he was SVP, Head of Business Unit Corrugated Nordics in the division. Before joining Stora Enso in 2017, he held several leadership positions at Climeon and Ericsson.

Metsä Group’s investment projects in Finland progress – the “world’s most modern sawmill” will be built in Rauma

Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, has made the decision to build the “world’s most modern sawmill” in Rauma. The value of the investment is approximately EUR 200 million. Construction will begin in the spring of 2020. Production at the sawmill is set to begin during the third quarter of 2022. The coronavirus outbreak may have an impact on the schedules. The pre-engineering phase of the Kemi bioproduct mill continues, and Metsä Group expects to be ready to make a decision on this approximately EUR 1.5 billion mill in the autumn of 2020.

Flint Group Packaging Inks Europe confirms the implementation of a solvent surcharge for its solvent-based inks and coatings in Europe, effective 1st April 2020. The surcharge will be implemented as promptly as possible and will vary depending upon the specific product portfolio and commercial terms each customer has in place. The surcharge will remain active until the current raw material volatility subsides. Orders received up until 31st March 2020 will not be affected.

Valmet and Orora’s Botany Mill renew the Mill Maintenance Outsourcing agreement in Australia

Valmet and Orora Limited have signed a multi-year Mill Maintenance Outsourcing (MMO) agreement to continue taking care of the site maintenance of Orora’s Botany B9 board making line in New South Wales, Australia. In addition to the MMO agreement, Valmet and Orora have signed a Performance Agreement targeting clear and systematic production and maintenance improvements. Both agreements include Valmet Industrial Internet (VII) solutions to provide a live link between customer and Valmet experts for process optimization. The value of the agreements will not be disclosed. The renewed MMO agreement will be effective as of July 1, 2020.
