Following Sappi’s recent price increase communications for Graphic Paper products (WFC/UWF/MC) effective 16 March 2026, today they are announcing necessary further pricing adjustments. Despite ongoing efficiency efforts, the underlying profitability of the Graphic Paper business has remained at an unsustainably low level for some time. Restoring a healthy margin position is essential to ensure the longterm continuity, quality, and reliability of supply. For this reason, a further price increase has become unavoidable.
Due to rising raw material costs, Drewsen Spezialpapiere increases prices for its uncoated woodfree specialty papers. The adjustment will range between 6–9 percent depending on the product segment and will apply to deliveries from April 1, 2026. In response to current developments in energy markets, the company is also compelled to introduce a temporary energy cost surcharge.
The war in the Middle East is having far-reaching effects on global energy and transportation markets. While disruptions in air and maritime traffic are currently concentrated primarily in the region itself, sharply rising oil and gas prices are driving up costs for energy, freight and raw materials worldwide. The speed and scale of these cost increases are now beginning to affect even long-term sourcing and energy procurement structures.

Corrugators and printers serving leading brands with high-performance packaging and displays rely on the consistent availability of premium coated and uncoated liner board. In recent years extensive internal cost and efficiency initiatives, including organisational restructuring and operational optimisation were implemented. Despite these actions, continued price erosion has created a widening gap between structural costs and the pricing levels required to maintain a sustainable and reliable supply. To address this imbalance, Sappi Europe will implement a price increase of 7% to 8% on coated and uncoated premier Fusion Liner board, effective 1 April 2026.
Across all industries, cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace is increasingly recognised as valuable and essential to long-term success. However, despite the print industry’s significant advancements in technology and innovation, visible representation of women remains limited. As the sector grapples with low recruitment, it’s important to challenge outdated perceptions. Creating real change, however, requires collective effort - no single company can do it alone.

Sappi Europe will increase prices for its Speciality products by €50-70/t, depending on the grade, effective on deliveries as from 1 April 2026. Despite significant internal efficiency programs and cost-saving initiatives, and major restructuring efforts, the combination of persistent cost inflation and continued price erosion has pushed current price levels to an unsustainable point for Sappi.
Sappi Europe announces a price increase of €50/ton on its Woodfree Coated (WFC) sheets portfolio, effective 16 March 2026. Over the past months, market prices for Woodfree Coated sheets have fallen heavily, driven by weak demand and intense competitive pressure. This decline has pushed selling prices to levels that no longer reflect the underlying cost realities of the industry.
