The study was conducted in the first half of 2022 and presented by Prof Lutz Engisch from the University at ERA’s recent Annual & Packaging/Decorative Conference in Baveno, Italy.

The European Parliament and Council have reached historic agreement on a new EU law on deforestation-free products. All operators placing commodities on the European market that can generate global deforestation will now be subject to mandatory due diligence rules. This closes an important loophole that allowed products linked to the degradation and destruction of forests to be sold in the EU. Intergraf and our members have called for printed products to be included in the scope of this legislation for over a decade. We are delighted to see our efforts succeed.

This means less waste during printing processes, and effective quality assurance at the slitter. Thanks to its compact mounting frame made of extruded aluminum profiles, TubeScan XL can be integrated easily into new and existing machines.
GSE Dispensing introduces a software module for tracing and labelling hazardous chemicals in ink ingredients of spot colours – promoting a safer working environment for label and packaging converters. GSE Hazard symbol printing software solves the problem of tracing and communicating the occasional presence of hazardous chemicals in special brand colours that are made by blending ‘base components’ of inks, varnishes and additives together. When a base component contains hazardous chemicals, these are labelled on the supplier’s packaging. However, this information can be lost when the components are dispensed for new formulations, or returned from the press for eventual reuse.
