Manroland Goss becomes a 100 % subsidiary of the Possehl Group
The Lübeck-based Possehl Group, an in-ternationally active, diversified industrial conglomerate, is acquiring the remaining shares in manroland Goss web systems GmbH, the leading provider of web offset printing solutions, effective October 1, 2026. The Possehl Group previously held a 51 percent stake and will continue to provide full financing for the company. The former co-shareholder, American Industrial Partners (AIP), is exiting the shareholder structure. With this full acquisition, the Possehl Group is consolidating managerial responsibility for manroland Goss under a single ownership structure.
Cardbox Packaging elevates production with continued investment in Bobst die-cutting equipment
Cardbox Packaging, an international manufacturer of boxes, cartons, containers, cups, and other paper-based food packaging products, is reaping the rewards of its investment in die-cutting equipment from Bobst. Two important reasons for Cardbox Packaging’s investment in Bobst die-cutting technology are productivity and reliability. The first machine, a Bobst Novacut 106 ER installed in 2017, delivered on these requirements, and the company opted to reinvest in 2021 and 2024, choosing a Visioncut 106 LER on both occasions. Die-cutting at Cardbox Packaging complements a pair of sheet-fed offset presses and additional finishing equipment, enabling the company to turnover c€20 million a year.
Pharma: Heidelberg and Pfenning group combine packaging and logistics under one roof
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) and the Pfenning group have entered into a partnership to develop integrated solutions for pharmaceutical packaging production. The goal of the collaboration is to combine production, packaging, and logistics into a seamless end-to-end process and, within this system, to unlock new potential for efficiency, transparency, and compliance in regulated supply chains. This partnership directly builds on Heidelberg’s strategy, unveiled at interpack 2026, to position itself as an end-to-end system integrator for the entire packaging production value chain. The focus is on processes that precede and follow the printing process.

Sappi Europe announces price increases for wet glue label papers
Sappi Europe announces a price increase of €37 per tonne for Wet Glue Label grade, Parade Label Pro and €97 per tonne for Wet Strength Label grade Parade Label WS. These increases will apply to new orders and deliveries as from 1st November 2026. While ongoing efficiency initiatives and cost-control measures enabled Sappi to absorb and offset a portion of the rising costs the adjustment is essential to ensure sustainable supply.
Klampfer Druck boosts competitiveness with Jetfire 50 digital printing system from Heidelberg
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is also seeing growing interest in its industrial digital printing solutions centered around the Jetfire 50 in its Eastern Europe region. The main reason for this is the growing trend toward increasingly smaller print runs, which has also taken hold in this region. According to Heidelberg’s analyses, the share of digitally printed volume in the total commercial printing volume in Eastern Europe will rise to around 44 percent by 2030, with Poland, Austria, and the Czech Republic ranking among the strongest markets due to their well-established printing industries.
Sappi launches Parade Face Edge for oil- and grease-resistant self-adhesive labels
Sappi Europe has launched Parade Face Edge, a one-side coated semi-gloss paper for self-adhesive labels used on products that can come into contact with oils and grease. The new 80 g/m2 face stock combines a grease-resistant fibre base with advanced coating technology. This construction provides resistance to grease on the surface of the label and helps prevent oil from penetrating through its cut edge.

BASF launches paper coating dispersions with reduced Product Carbon Footprint
BASF is launching a portfolio of dispersions for paper coating with a reduced Product Carbon Footprint (rPCF). Paper coating binders produced at the Ludwigshafen Verbund site are now available with approximately 20% to 45% lower Product Carbon Footprints1 than the corresponding conventional products.
